The Village of Port Jefferson and the Port Jefferson Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) collaborated to rebrand the village to communicate what Port Jefferson has to offer visitors and businesses. The campaign will start with the release of a new video(below). Mayor Margot Garant, Business owners and Director of Operations for the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, Barbara Ransome talked about the benefits of opening a store in Port Jefferson and the visitor’s option to have dinner, shop and visit the harbor front during their stay. “Port Jefferson has something to offer for everyone,” Garant said. “It has great restaurants, recreational activities, a beautiful harbor and vibrant store fronts. You can go with family, on a date or a girls night out.” The partnership with the village and the Port Jefferson B.I.D. started in August. The new marketing initiative has a marketing company taking on most of the advertising and rebranding needs, slogans, television advertisements and in-store promotions. Businesses have the opportunity to promote themselves through the Port Jefferson B.I.D.’s section of the village’s website and through the Port Jefferson B.I.D.’s social media accounts. The Port Jefferson B.I.D.’s website will include an interactive map for patrons to see restaurants, stores and services. “I am really encouraged by the mayor and the village and their support in trying to rebrand,” said Roger Rutherford, the Acting President of the Port Jefferson B.I.D. “We have such a beautiful village.” Initiatives prior to the rebranding, including Qwik Ride, PJ/SBU Shuttle, and promotions with the Long Island Rail Road and The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, allowed for visitors to travel to Port Jefferson without worrying about parking. “You can really vacation here for the weekend. There is a lucury waterfront hotel and quaint bed and breakfasts,” Debra Bowling, the owner of Pasta Pasta, said. “You can do everything in walking distance. You can go to a restaurant and then go to the water to look at the view. It’s truly a small American town.” The Port Jefferson B.I.D. speculated that the television advertisement launch for the village will happen before the holiday season. |
